Wow! Another Yankees/Red Sox classic

I fell asleep last night with the Yankees trailing the Red Sox 5-1. Why stay awake for a drubbing? My son came in my bedroom in the morning and asked(knowing the answer), "Do you know who won last night?". I couldn't believe it when he told me it was the Yankees 8-7. Yankees did it with an 6 run 8th inning. Watching the encore presentation this morning. :)

Go Yanks! Let's sweep the series in Boston! Again!

Well, no sweeep... but let's hope for 2 out of 3.
Yes! We got 2 of 3. What an exciting game Sunday night! I stayed up till the end. Mariano Rivera struggled but got Big Papi to pop up with the bases loaded. Get out of town quick and don't look back. Whew! That was a close one. Nice pitching from both the old veterans. Maybe the Red Sox waited too long to pull Schilling? Torre went to Joba. Joba gave up his first run but pitched two good innings. Tigers are still on the Yankees heels so the win was big.
Yeah, I caught the end of last night's game. They almost blew it...
Just remember that "almost" only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. :)
The first base umpire almost got the call right on Damon's(should have been) infield hit. He called him out and it cost the Yankees at least one run.
You always have to hold your breath these days when Rivera pitches against the BoSox, but he pulled it off! Wow! Clemens was better than I expected, Chamberlain showed more versatility than just raw power, and Jeter showed why he's the captain. Great game!

Taking five out of the last six games versus the Sox bodes pretty well for meeting them in the post-season.
I think the Red Sox are really missing Manny Ramirez. Might be tougher to beat them with his bat behind Big Papi.
Chamberlain has shown remarkable maturity. His slider is awesome and he's not afraid to throw it in any count. We could debate his best pitch between the slider and a 100 mph fast ball. The combination of the two is one hell of a combination.

Can the Yankees catch the Red Sox for the division lead?
Sure, it might be tougher to beat the BoSox with Manny back in the line-up. And if the Yankees had been injury-free this year, the standings might be very, very different.

OTOH, if the Yankees had been injury-free this year, some very promising young kids might not have gotten their chance to shine. We just can't know what might happen or what might have happened. It's enough for me to be excited by what has happened and is happening!
Excellent points.
